Papillionaire bicycles

While I'm in a bicycle kind of mood, I thought I'd post this link for my Australian friends for Papillionaire Bicycles. Based in South Yarra, Victoria, you can customise your bike online: leather seat- yes? Parcel tray on the back? Cream tyres or black with cream sidewalls? 'Boston Red' or the lovely soft blue 'Maya?

They will ship to you and the prices aren't too bad. Comparable to regular bikes but with such vintage charm and character.

Thanks Rachel and Jordanna for the link ;)

Happy wednesday

Here's a pretty pic for your hump-day. Half way to the weekend... hooray!

Summer pretty

Love it a Lot helped me through a wintery day with a post of summery goodness. How sweet are these outfits from Ruche? LOVE the heart cut-out dress.

Tea Party

Love this. Spotted on Oh Joy! this morning...

Makes me Laugh

Clouds with bow ties.
"Because it's pretty much the only kind of tie you should wear
when you're a cloud..."

Marc John's simple & quirky illustrations make me laugh. I was chuckling to myself at my desk at work today (during my lunchbreak of course). See more here.

Summer floral swing tags

Amy Moss over at Eat Drink Chic has created these summery tags you can download and print. They are so bright and cheery. I'm going to save them for summer parties (2 degrees C this morning, as we tried to melt the ice off our car windscreen before driving to work. Brrrr - winter!)

Thanks so much Amy! Download here

Heavenly Vaults

I found this interesting imagery via Notcot the other day. From the book 'Heavenly Vaults' by Dr. David Stephenson (an associate professor at the School of Art, University of Tasmania, Hobart). The book features ceilings of 26 Catherdrals around the world. What interesting patterns they make...
kind of kaleidoscopic, don't you think?

Fruit trees...

How fun are these little 'serving trees' for finger food such as marshmallows and berries below?!  Designed by French company Smarin.

Little house in the woods

Elisa from work kindly sent me a link today to this New York Times article about a couple who brought a property in the Catskills, NY that had a little one-room hunting cabin on it. Sandra renovated the cabin to be her own private sanctuary. She and her husband live in a caravan together on the property but across the stream and up the hill is her little escape and he has his 'man-shed' with his TV & DVDs is elsewhere on the land. A fascinating read -makes me feel like selling-up moving out of town to a cottage in the hills and living a simpler life....!

Hooray for friday

Another pretty bicycle pic...
It's nearly the weekend- hope you enjoy yours!

my dream bicycle

If I had a spare $800, I'd buy a vintage-inspired Electra bike, a cute woven basket and ride around in a pretty dress (if I could manage it gracefully).

All of these goodies below are from The Bicycle Store.

I couldn't really justify this purchase, as I already own a bike... but it's a mountain bike style and quite old now and not at all feminine. These are just so gorgeous! What do you think?

Another time of year...

Winter can really get me down. Getting up for work in the dark and coming home in the dark. Getting out of bed in general. Too chilly outside for evening walks. Dry skin. Shorter days. I am really a summer person, I love floaty dresses and the beach and barbeques with friends and picnics and camping and ice-cream dripping down your hands.

I guess though, without winter would I appreciate summer as much?
The contrast really helps me to remember the blessing of the warmer months. I'm trying to be postive this year and not feel all dark and gloomy. After all there are positives to winter: hearty soups, fireplaces, wearing boots & scarves, curling up on the couch with a good book/blog/magazine, a fluffy throw blanket
and a hot chocolate.

One of the things I've been enjoying lately is looking at my favourite blogs overseas and seeing all the summer-fun they are having. That's certainly a happy pick-me-up during the dark winter days.

For now I'm aiming to think of the good things this time of year brings and to enjoy them to the full. Here's some collections from my favourite sites, when they were experiencing winter...

Toasted cheese sandwich and tomato soup cups. A sweet serving idea for when friends pop around via You Are My Fave

When I went to catch the bus the other morning, it actually looked like this outside. I grew up on the coast and living a little more inland now I experience frosts I've never known before...

And now for some general wintery eye-candy...

These are really interesting furniture pieces...

I wish I knew someone really handy who could make me something like these.

I like this space

I find it calming and clean but still friendly and warm.
I'd like my house to look like this...

I unfortunately can't remember where I found this image.
If you know, please let me know.

Angelica Peady Photography

I met the super-talented Angelica Peady at a friend's party not long ago. She's a Sydney-based wedding photographer and I would have to recommend her to any friends getting hitched anytime soon. Check out this amazing fair-shoot & see more on her blog here. I wish I knew her when I was getting married!

And here's a concept shoot she set up entitled 'I was late to the wedding because my flowergirl was blown away'. It's pretty cute...
